MOTOREX
Winter Storage Guide
1.
Check the antifreeze concentration to make sure youre covered
for anticipated temperatures. Add Motorex Antifreeze which is specially
formulated for water cooled motorcycles (some car grades use high
silica/sand concentrations to remove scale. This is really hard
on motorcycle waterpumps).
2. Fill the petrol tank with fuel to prevent the accumulation of
condensation and the subsequent rusting of the tank from the inside
out.
3. Wash and wax. Use a prep spray such as Motorex Protect and Shine
645 to protect rubber (not tires) and plastic. Run the bike to temperature
to remove any water.
4. Add Motorex Fuel Stabilser to the
fuel to preserve the fuel until spring.

5. Drain the carburetors where possible.
If you don't want to try this then turn off the gas and run the
bike on the petrol/Fuel Stabiliser mixture until it stalls. Alternatively
just run the Fuel Stabilser through the system. The ideal is to
leave as little fuel in the carbs as possible so that when the fuel
evaporates it doesnt clog up the carbs.
6. While the bike is warm change the
oil & filter as the products of combustion that have accumulated
in the oil are acidic and they will tend to eat metal over the winter.
7. Remove your battery and charge periodically
over the course of the winter (always supervised and 2 amps or less).
8. Clean and lube chain using Motorex Chain Clean 611 and Chainlube
622
9. Check and inflate tires to recommended pressures. Lift tires
off the ground using stands or at least set on carpet or other material
to get off the cold concrete.
10. Cover and kiss good night.
